Turbine Warming Using Auxiliary Steam
Plant: 350 MW PF-fired Power Plant with HP&LP Turbine Bypass Systems
Query: Turbine Warming Using Auxiliary Steam
Explanation of Query: We are examining ways to improve Unit Start-up processes to reduce time and fuel use, and achieve greater efficiencies in our operations. One possibility under consideration is to make use of Auxiliary Steam for initial Turbine warming. Would this be feasible for this type of plant and, if so, would it also be beneficial (given that there would need to be some investment in additional Auxiliary Steam pipework and valving, and modifications of the Unit and Turbine control logic)?
